There is an opportunity for everyone at D Acres. There are several categories of participation including volunteer, residential, tradesperson, and employee.
Volunteer Day -Every last Saturday of the Month. By appointment, contact us to make arrangements
Residency- Self directed and goal oriented towards mission of D Acres. The residential program is a good match for people for people interested in immersion in an agrarian lifestyle. Residents must commit to a minimum of six weeks on the farm.
Tradespeople and Artisans - Demonstrate expertise in a specific field that is useful for the overall farm operations example: woodworking,
Employment - Employees are expected to contribute to the financial viability of the nonprofit organization. Employees are generally cultivated through the residency though we are currently seeking a hospitality specialist to manage our overnight accomodation enterprise.
Research Projects - We are open to work with faculty and graduate students interested in the research and implementation of special projects.
International Travelers - We welcome international travelers with an interest in farming to apply for a short term visit (WWOOF style). We are enthused to offer workers a cross cultural educational experience here at D Acres. We request a minimum one week stay.
D Acres of New Hampshire provides a multi-dimensional opportunity to explore skills relating to organic farming, sustainable development and subsistence living. The basic program consists of a minimum of 40 hours of organized work in exchange for food and rustic, minimalist accommodations.
The main effort revolves around the gardens, the forest, and on-site infrastructure projects. Work is related to the development, maintenance, and long term economic viability of the homestead and community at-large. Residents have input toward which skills and services they wish to focus on and develop to the benefit of the collective. Everyone shares kitchen and cleaning chores. Participants must be prepared for the physical nature of the work and the outdoor setting.
In addition, participant benefits include access to a large commercial kitchen and living room, laundry, woodshop, 2000-plus volume research library, yoga space, telephone & internet access, and free range of the beautiful forested property.
